BEYOND THE FIRST IMPRESSION

Built for more than curb appeal.

Noncombustible fiber cement

James Hardie reports that its fiber cement siding is noncombustible under ASTM E136 and will not add fuel to a fire. This is a material benefit, not a guarantee that a home will survive a wildfire.

Weather and moisture resistance

Hardie products are engineered to resist damage from moisture and weather, including snow and freezing temperatures. Correct flashing, clearances, and installation remain essential.

A finish that fits your home

Explore factory-finished ColorPlus® Technology options or a paint plan suited to your project. ColorPlus finishes are designed to resist peeling, chipping, and cracking.

Less appeal to wood pests

Fiber cement holds little appeal for termites and wood-boring pests. It still needs routine inspection and the care recommended for the selected product and finish.

WILDFIRE-AWARE PLANNING

One part of a more resilient home.

Hardie's Colorado resiliency sheet identifies its siding as an option for Class 2 exterior-wall hardening in areas with moderate or high fire intensity. It also reports a Class A surface-burning classification under ASTM E84, with a flame-spread index of zero.

A surface-burning classification is different from an hourly fire-rated wall assembly. Paints and coatings can be damaged or char in flames, even when the fiber cement underneath is noncombustible.

Look beyond the siding.

Wildfire planning also includes the roof, vents, windows, wall intersections, and the area immediately around the home. Product selection and installation details need to work together.

COLORADO PROJECTS

Start with your address and scope.

The Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code sets requirements for designated wildland-urban interface areas. The applicable rules depend on the mapped classification, local adoption and amendments, and the work being proposed.

Replacing siding can trigger requirements even when you are not adding a room. Ask the local building department which exterior-wall and site requirements apply before finalizing materials. Hardie siding can support a compliant design; it does not establish compliance for the complete project on its own.

FIND YOUR LOOK

Familiar character. Fresh possibilities.

Lap siding

Board-and-batten

Vertical panel and trim combinations that emphasize height and simple proportions.

Shingle accents

Texture for gables and selected architectural details.

Coordinated trim

Plan corners and window surrounds alongside the siding, rather than as an afterthought.

Ask us about available profiles and colors for your address. Bring exterior photos and any association requirements to your estimate conversation.

A few practical questions.

Is James Hardie siding fireproof?

No siding choice makes an entire home fireproof. Noncombustible fiber cement can be part of a broader wildfire-hardening plan.

Will it lower my insurance premium?

Ask your insurer before counting on savings. Eligibility and discounts vary by carrier, location, and policy; they are not guaranteed.
